Do you like saving people lives and making them feel better? Than become a General Physician would be a great career. The duty of a General Physician is to diagnose and assist patients with routine checkups and examinations. Therefore, a physician must be able to complete a number of tasks, including collecting, recording, and maintaining patient information such as medical histories, reports, and examination results. General Physician must be able to explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients in a professional manner. 

In 2017, General Physicians earned an average of about $233k per year. About 62% of Physicians are Male, making them the more common gender in the occupation. About 70% of Physicians are White, making that the most common race or ethnicity in the occupation. Representing about 21.1% of Physicians & surgeons, Asian is the second most common race or ethnicity in this occupation and about 6% are Black. 

 

How To Become A General Physician

Be prepared to be in school for awhile because it no easy task to become a General Physician but its very rewarding. You must first complete a bachelor’s degree program then apply to medical school. After completing your 4 years medical school program you will receive a your Doctor of Medicine then you’ll begin another 3 years of residency that provides training specific to the field. Only after they have completed this entire process and obtained a state license can a general physician practice unsupervised.
