Accounting Manager
Position Specific Description
We operate over 3,000 oil and gas wells across Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana. As a key leader in our Accounting team, you’ll oversee financial reporting and accounting for our Upstream business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight.
Key Responsibilities
Transformation Lead
Lead near term transformation project to overhaul existing processes for uploading transactions from oil and gas software to ERP
Establish new analytical processes, spanning revenue and property related processes
Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
Lead technical accounting support for upstream operations.
Base Responsibilities
Financial Oversight
Lead general ledger management for upstream entities consolidated under NextEra Energy Resources.
Direct monthly close cycles, quarterly and annual reporting.
Asset Management
Oversee Fixed Asset accounting, including DD&A and impairment assessments.
Ensure timely asset capitalization and accurate capex reporting
Audit & Compliance
Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
Maintain SOX compliance for financial reporting and fixed asset controls.
Performance Analysis
Conduct monthly revenue and leasehold operating accrual-to-actual analysis.
Prepare monthly financial statement reviews and present findings to senior leadership.
Analyze financial performance across revenue, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
Team Leadership
Drive performance management and foster effective communication across locations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
CPA
Master’s degree preferred
10+ years of oil & gas accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex, large data sets; SQL experience
SAP experience
Oil and gas accounting software experience
Proven experience managing geographically distributed teams (Houston and offshore).
Strong command of GAAP and ability to research and resolve technical accounting issues.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepares financial reports that are in compliance with GAAP and FERC, in a timely manner, to accurately reflect the financial position of the Company
• Provides accounting oversight to businesses and departments within the Company and ensures proper controls are in place for accurate financial reporting
• Ensures financial data integrity through the implementation and maintenance of a strong control environment
• Keeps abreast of, and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relevant company policies, practices, and procedures
• Manages professional staff, and effectively communicates and executes performance management
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience: 8+ years
• Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Master’s – Business Administration
