Natural Gas Pricing Analyst
Position Specific Description
Support natural gas pricing for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers across multiple markets. Collaborate with Sales, Supply, Risk, and Operations to ensure competitive pricing and margin protection. This role is designed for an analytical professional early in their career, with opportunities to develop technical expertise and industry knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing Support:
Assist in building and maintaining pricing structures (fixed, index, hybrid, pass-through). Apply adders for transport, storage, balancing, and fuel under guidance.
Weather & Load Normalization:
Help develop profiles and risk premiums using weather normalization and load-shape analytics.
Quote Operations:
Prepare accurate, auditable quotes and RFP responses with clear assumptions and approval trails.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Work with Sales, Supply, Risk, and Operations to ensure smooth deal execution.
Tooling & Automation:
Contribute to pricing engine enhancements and data pipeline improvements.
Learning & Development:
Build knowledge of natural gas markets, tariffs, and pricing methodologies; participate in training and mentorship opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
Experience: 1–3 years in natural gas industry, pricing, or related analytical role.
Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills; familiarity with SQL.
Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, strong analytical ability, clear communication, ability to work under time pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to natural gas pricing, tariffs, or LDC/pipeline structures.
Interest in automation and data modeling.

Reports to: Principal Natural Gas Analyst, Pricing Operations
No direct reports.

Location: Houston, TX OR Atlanta, GA OR Newark, NJ
Travel: Up to 10%
Job Overview
This position assists in pricing energy derivatives including maintaining and updating pricing models, energy market pricing analysis and developing pricing methodologies. Employees in this role work with full requirements, risk management and trading to interpret valuations provided by models and respond to intra-day trading requests to price and evaluate structured transactions.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains and updates pricing models
Performs basic quantitative studies and analysis of historical data
Analyzes value and risk components associated with energy transactions and conducts risk-reward analysis on incoming deals
Proposes new methodologies of analysis to enhance current processes
Works with origination and full requirements to price the cost and risk associated with structured transactions
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
