Principal Power Generation Engineer - Power Conversion
Position Specific Description
Fleet Electrical team is searching for an engineering candidate to assist with operating and maintaining NextEra Energy Resources wind power converters. The candidate should possess 7+ years of experience specifically in working with power electronics and power conversion.
A successful candidate will have:
Strong understanding of principles of power electronics and power conversion
Strong understanding of power conversion components (IGBTs, reactors, capacitors, driver boards, CCUs), failure modes, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair and testing
Familiar with diagnosing power conversion fault codes and disposition of high-speed fault recorder waveform capture
Familiar with cooling system design concepts, failure modes, and maintenance for power conversion equipment
Familiarity and experience with Root Cause Analysis
Experience with writing repair, operations, and/or maintenance procedures and specifications
Capability to translate and communicate financial and technical business cases to gain leadership approval
Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and deliverables
Data driven decision making skills
Ability to relate to Field Service Personnel to provide adequate technical support
Preferred Requirements
Previous experience with wind generation desired but not required. Specific experience with wind turbine technologies: GE 1X, 2X, 3X, 5X, Siemens 2.3, 2.9, SGRE G47, G80
Previous experience with GE MV3000, ABB ACS800/880, DAC, Ingeteam, Xantrex
Additional Ideal Qualifications
Estimated travel 20% to wind sites and vendor shops
Willing and able to climb wind turbines
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams
Willing to work in an office environment
Ability and interest to learn and self-teach new skills and technologies
